After Netflix released a Mary biopic at the beginning of the year, a debate has been raging on social media about who Mary was. "Sola Scriptura" Christians say she was an ordinary yet faithful woman who God used in an extraordinary way, while Roman Catholics have elevated her into something of a demi-god--someone who was sinless and who can hear and answer our prayers. Some Catholics have even given Mary the title of "Co-Redemptrix" to say she is partially responsible for our salvation. So then, who is the real Mary? And why is the Catholic version so different? The answer might surprise you!
